FEEDER PRODUCTS
Next we have feeder products. These are products that feed naturally into the next sale.
The buyer of a Feeder product has taken a step toward their goal (often a big step) but there is another step that must be taken in order to get all the way there.
Feeder products appeal to the “newbie” AND “intermediate” buyer.
We covered Newbie buyers in the last section. But what is an “Intermediate” buyer?
An Intermediate buyer is someone with more experience than a Newbie. They know the language of the niche they are in.
In the online business world, terms like “autoresponder” and “ROI” are familiar to them.
While they may not have “made it” online yet, they have tried many things and are learning from their experiences.
No matter what niche you are in, if you think of your online marketing as a house, then Feeder Products are the frame of the house. For in buying and using them, your prospects and customers are still signaling that they will need and want more.
So what is an example of a Feeder Product?
An example of a great Feeder product is a resale rights package.

Let’s say your customer buys a resale rights package. They are going to have their own product and keep 100% of the profits. It’s exciting!
But what happens once a person buys a resale rights package?
They will often need these things, or more.
- Web hosting if they don’t have it.
- The ability to upload and modify the sales letter for their new product.
- Payment processing to make the sale.
- An autoresponder for a drip marketing sequence and to build a list.
- Places to advertise their product, or information about advertising.
- Custom graphics for their new product.
- Advice about pricing their new product.
This is one reason I like to promote resale rights packages. I can continue to help buyers after their initial purchase, which helps build relationship.
Resale rights packages are Feeder products because they help the buyer but the buyer needs more to achieve their final goal.
By the way, the list above comes from my own experience. These are the questions I am most often asked in consulting when people buy a resale rights package and now want to sell it online.
You might be wondering “If I sell a Feeder product how do I make the sale on those other products?”
Great question, and the answer is simplicity itself.
You set up an autoresponder with one message for each of the products you want to promote to your Feeder product buyers.
Send the messages in a logical sequence based on the Feeder product they purchased. And set the messages to go every other day after the initial sale. If you prefer a more relaxed schedule go to a three-day gap between messages.
I use every other day because I find that buyers are excited and want to take action now. I don’t want to miss them and don’t want them to miss the helpful information I share.
Let’s use the buyer of a resale rights package and the list of what they might need to set up our sequence.
As a reminder, here is what they might need.

Remember, these are only suggestions. But they are suggestions based on what actually works for me.
- Day 1 - Congratulations on your purchase. (Introduce or re-introduce yourself)
- Day 3 - Do you have hosting yet? (Promote a hosting offer)
- Day 5 - How do you take payments online? (Promote a merchant account offer)
- Day 7 - Need help with pricing your new product? (Send them to an article)
- Day 9 - If you need custom graphics use this. (Promote an ebook or cover service)
- Day 11 - This is where I go for advertising. (Promote your favorite ad sources)
- Day 13 - Do autoresponders still work? (Promote your favorite autoresponder)
- Day 15 - Need some help? (Offer technical help or to recommend someone)
Again, this is just a suggested schedule. But it is based on what I do and the rhythm I use in sending these types of messages. I hope you find it helpful as a framework.
